Lynn Rae was born in
1961 and grew up in a small farming community in southern Ontario. "I Don't Give Up, I Don't
Give In and I Don't Take No For An Answer!" That has been her motto for
living. By the time she was thirty she was diagnosed with clinical depression
and five years later bipolar disorder (manic depressive illness). She
has spent the last fifteen years exploring the reasons for this illness.
In her search for answers, she found one of the most therapeutic tools
was journaling.
Her book "My
Journey Back To Myself" is the culmination of her journaling over a ten
year period. It was published in March of 2007 and depicts her
struggles and recovery from this illness. She has earned her degree in
"self-help" by reading, reading, and more reading.
As a public speaker she
shares with others her coping strategies in living with bipolar disorder. Lynn not only wants to do her part to
de-stigmatize mental illness, she puts forth opinions and ideas that don't
necessarily go along with conventional research for people to ponder.
Lynn Rae did over 50 talks in her first year and is well on her way to
that again.
Lynn also does a motivational talk
called "The Seven F's to a Fantastic Life." Can you guess
what those F’s are? One is
friends. By incorporating them into her daily living her life now has
focus, direction and meaning and yours can too!
She has spoken at hospitals,
libraries, mental health agencies, Rotary Clubs, universities, colleges and
conferences. She is expanding to speak about mental health in the
workplace.
Lynn is currently working another
book, "The F Book," which is based on her motivational talk. She
has been interviewed on both television and radio stations. She now makes her
home near Toronto, Canada.
Lynn’s passion
is dancing. It is one of the
way’s she maintains good mental health. She is now hosting dances for singles
over 30. See her new blog: singlesocialdance.blogspot.com for upcoming dance dates.
Lynn is a member of Toastmasters, The Court of Blarney, Newmarket.
Lynn is a
member of CAPS (Canadian Association of Public Speakers).
