Monday, October 24, 2005 TO WHOM THIS MAY CONCERN RE: My Journey Back To Myself by Lynn Rae Lynn Rae has no lengthy curriculum vitae, no list of related work experiences. She has already published one book about her incredible life experiences, and now feels that this new work needs wider publication and media attention to focus on the serious but much misunderstood Bipolar Affective Disorder. Throughout my 25 years in publishing and working closely with so many authors, I have rarely met and worked with a person like Lynn Rae. From our first meeting, there was something about her profound belief in her writing and her intense need to share this life knowledge and experience with a wide audience that captivated me. I was not to be disappointed. There is a deceptive simplicity and rhythm to her poignant telling of her life story. Effortlessly, she subtly draws the reader in to her plight. We are immersed in her world, suffering her belief in herself that struggles with her confusion and disorientation. We are there with her every moment. And her every moment is a profound struggle to make sense of her life, and at some level to desperately understand why and how she is different. It doesn't matter whether there are many or few books on Bipolar Affective Disorder. There can be none that so effectively draws the reader into the dizzying whirlpool of disorientation as does Lynn Rae's writing of her own experiences, and her desperate efforts to understand her life.
I felt honored to help in the development and editing of this work. And I will be forever moved by what I have read, and by this intense and amazing woman who had the courage to write this work. There is no question in my mind that this work should and must be published.
Sincerely, Thelma Barer-Stein,

If Jack Kerouac had had any discipline or clarity he might have written like Lynn Rae. Her new book is quite extraordinary in its simplicity, directness and control while dealing with the wilder stretches of the human mind - her own. I find it amazing that someone suffering for many years from Bi-Polar Disorder and other difficulties should be able to write about her plight and adventures clearly and simply. This is a rare gift in any writer, but I would think it is most unusual in one tending to hallucinate and to plunge into valleys of despair. The mixture of intimacy and objectivity is fascinating and I'm sure this book will be of great interest to those interested in exploring the more unbridled reaches of the mind. John David Hamilton
